Our Shipping Process

At Little Grey Companion, we believe that distance should never stand in the way of finding the perfect home for our birds. While we love meeting our local clients, we offer specialized shipping arrangements for families located across the country.

If you are wondering, “Is it safe to fly a parrot?”—the answer is a resounding yes. We would never offer shipping if it weren’t a safe, proven method for our birds to reach their forever homes.

Priority on Safety & Comfort

We personally vet the reputation of every transport company and airline we use. When we book a flight for a Little Grey Companion, we use only pet-safe programs that follow strict USDA and IATA guidelines.

  • Passenger Cabin Travel: We do not ship our parrots in the cargo hold. Our birds travel in the climate-controlled passenger section of the plane, often accompanied by professional pet nannies who ensure they are monitored throughout the journey.

  • Same-Day Arrival: Most flights average 4 to 6 hours. We choose the most direct routes available to minimize travel time.

Expert Preparation

With years of experience, we know exactly how to prep a baby parrot for a stress-free journey:

  • Custom Travel Crates: Our crates are airline-approved and designed for maximum safety.

  • Hydration & Nutrition: Instead of water bowls that can spill and make the bird cold, we provide high-moisture fruits (like cucumber and apple) and a specialized gel to keep them hydrated. We also attach feeding instructions and a supply of their current pellet mix to the top of the carrier.

  • Comfort Items: To help the bird feel secure, we include familiar shredded paper for nesting and a small toy with a familiar scent to reduce anxiety during the flight.

Full Communication

We monitor every flight in real-time. Once the booking is confirmed, we provide you with:

  • The flight number and exact arrival time.

  • Tracking information so you can see where your companion is at all times.

  • Clear instructions on where to meet the pet nanny or pick up your bird at the airport.

We firmly believe that a short, professional flight is often much less stressful for a bird than a long, bumpy car ride. Our goal is to ensure your parrot arrives happy, healthy, and ready to start their new life with you.
